It's easy. Simply tap your card on the TAP target of the bus farebox/validator or station turnstile/validator. The validator will “beep” and display a confirmation that your card is valid. You are now free to board the bus or train.
Can I transfer money from one TAP card to another?
Transfers between TAP-participating systems are exclusively on TAP. Use TAP to transfer from one system to another within 2½ hours from the first tap of your journey.
Does TAP card work on dash?
For example, a TAP card with a Metro Day Pass is not accepted on any LADOT Commuter Express or DASH bus, and a LADOT Commuter Express pass is not valid on Metro. A TAP card cannot be used to pay another person's fare even if there is enough stored value (cash) on the card.
How can I transfer balance from TAP card?
Contact TAP Customer Service immediately. Request that the unused balance be transferred to a new TAP card ($5.00 card replacement fee) or another registered TAP card (no fee.) TAP will restore the unused balance of your card as of the date and time that you report it lost or stolen.
